elaboration of my batam trip with photos!

we were instantly transformed into millionaires from the moment we arrived at batam. whahaha.

we went to the temple which is apparently famous for their vegetarian buns.

so colourful! :D

at the canteen we saw this.



no no no.. this isn't BUFFET. it's vegetable rice. pick your choice and pay. hahaha! good idea. hungry people take more and not so hungry people take less.

we went to a seafood restaurant for lunch. there was something that really startled us.



basins like that were everywhere.. but wait. there were fishes inside the pond under the basin. the basin was so small that we splashed water and SOAP into the pond while washing our hands. don't tell me they rear the fishes there for our consumption :x yuck.

what do you call these? we picked the flesh from the shells with toothpicks. hehe looks gross but yummy!



sis with the HUGE coconut which wasn't sweet at all. tasted salty and sour. ugh.
notice: don't ask me why my mum looked so appalled. i have no idea :P

the people there were quite poor so the shopping centres were rather deserted. a far end from vivocity haha. the newer shopping malls there look like parkway and the older ones like roxy square :x we saw this at one of the shopping malls we went.



i do not understand malay, and i so i assumed everything there cost 1000 Rupiahs, which is around 16 cents in singapore? :x i saw the mirror that i bought for S$2 at minitoons there O_O my sis said we should buy a few more of such things back since they were so cheap. but as we took a closer look, each packaging states 8000 Rupiahs which is S$1.30. CHEY.. still cheap lah but not so cheap for us to buy a few more back.. haha.

i showed yana this photo and she translated to me "special promotion. FROM RP1000" -_-" so i seeeee... haha.

we bought 2 DOZENS of donuts back! :D they were really tasty. much better than those we have in singapore and NO QUEUES :D each donut costs only 60 cents in singapore dollars!

although it was a shopping trip, i bought nothing but..



a pair of bathroom slippers! cute right? :D




anyway last friday morning our company had an event! the SRC (SOC recreational club) members were giving away free crackers and fruit juices! they carried bells like those used for selling ice cream haha.

they walked around and distributed the food to everyone in SOC!

it's cool.. the SRC members are trying to make the office a less boring place to work.. haha. great effort!




a good news! i've got xiaohan as my roomie! HOORAY! so happy sia :D no more troubles! hehe.. this week has been good :) yours truly didn't cause any road hazards while driving too :D yippee!
